Jedidiah Mugarura wins Sillerman Prize!

APBF Programs

  1. Annual Contests

    The APBF administers three annual poetry prizes: the Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poetry, a first-book contest, the Glenna Luschei Prize for African Poetry, an award for a book by an African poet published in the previous calendar year, and the Evaristo Prize for African Poetry, an award for a selection of ten poems written by an African poet.

  2. African Poetry Libraries

    The African Poetry Library Initiative establishes small, collaborative, and user-friendly poetry reading libraries on the African continent to support poets.

  3. Book Series

    In collaboration with Akashic Books and the University of Nebraska Press, APBF publishes a beautifully designed box set of chapbooks, a debut collection, and other books of contemporary African poetry, including translations and our African Classics series.
