APBF Open House Takes over the Racial Justice Resource Center!
Earlier this month, the African Poetry Book Fund decked out Brown University’s Racial Justice Resource Center with poetry exhibits, interactive displays, and informative panels about APBF’s mission and history.
Kwame Dawes, Founder and Director of the African Poetry Book Fund, kicked off the event with an inspiring introduction to APBF and its body of accomplishments, followed by a brief presentation from Lorna Dawes, Primary Investigator for the African Poetry Digital Portal.
The open house also featured poetry readings by APBF authors Rachel (Afia) Ansong, Jolyn Phillips, and Henk Rossouw.
Opening our doors to Brown students and staff, as well as the surrounding Providence community, gave us the rich opportunity to share our vision and exchange ideas about our musings for the future of African poetry. We are excited to continue fostering collaborations with the dynamic village of academic and artistic minds that make Brown University so extraordinary.
